To provide a botanical reference collection on the flora of the Pilbara and neighbouring biogeographical region. To facilitate the development and maintenance of a comprehensive botanical database for flora within the Pilbara and neighbouring biogeographical region. To provide an information resource to the Pilbara community. |

GEOGRAPHIC SCOPE: |
North west of Western Australia. The PRH houses vouchers from the Pilbara, Great Sandy Desert, Little Sandy Desert, Gascoyne and northern portion (Cape Range) of the Carnarvon Biogeographical Regions. |

TAXONOMIC SCOPE: |
Representative collection of specimens from throughout the region. Many genera have been well curated by the representative specialist taxonomists. |
