Taxa in this category will have data of maximum reliability, as far as current taxonomic knowledge allows. Total number of collections: approx. 842,957; 21% to database.

• Eucalyptus (in broad sense)
• Callitris (Cypress pines)
• Casuarinaceae (She Oaks)
• Poaceae (Grasses)

[The above were the subject of ERIN-funded data capture at most herbaria in the period 1992-6; consequently rapid progress with these can be expected, with data validation the main task and, at most herbaria, only a minor component of new entry.]

Second Priority taxa (other highly important families/groups; Australian taxa only)

Taxa in this category will have data of maximum reliability, as far as current taxonomic knowledge allows. Total number of collections: approx. 1,250,077; 40% to database.

• Myrtaceae
• Proteaceae
• Leguminosae
• Asteraceae
• Orchidaceae
• Ferns
• Palms
• Conifers
• Cycads

• Selected Tropical families (e.g. Euphorbiaceae, Sapindaceae)
• Scheduled taxa - (ANZECC and State/Territory lists)
• Weeds - (at least the 20 most significant environmental weeds)
• Selected Cryptogams ('lower plants'): Cladoniaceae (lichens), Sphagnaceae (mosses), Dictyotales (brown algae), fungal taxa central to FungiMap project.

Third priority taxa

Taxa in this category will have taxonomic data as reliable as current knowledge and resources allow, and geographic data of a moderately reliable standard (but not exhaustively checked).

• Remainder of Australian native plant taxa (including external territories, and including lower plants)
• Remainder of plant taxa introduced to Australia
• New Guinea plants

Fourth priority taxa

Taxa in this category will have taxonomic and geographic data of variable standard, with significant validation effort being directed only at taxa of research and weed-potential interest.

• Remainder of overseas holdings, with emphasis on taxa of research priority and groups containing species with high weed-potential
